MISSION STATEMENT
Meaning “the way” in Latin, In Via is a journal of Christian thought at Emory University. Through the publication of creative and intellectual expressions inspired by the gospel, we hope to contribute a clear, relevant, and compassionate Christian worldview to campus conversations.
Our name comes from John 14:6, where Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

WHAT IN VIA IS & IS NOT
In Via is ecumenical, meaning we welcome and encourage representation from all denominations that affirm the Nicene Creed. In Via is also apolitical, meaning we do not endorse any particular political opinions, nor do we endorse the political opinions of our writers.
In Via is NOT a church or fellowship group, and it should not serve as a replacement for either. While we praise God when members feel spiritual nourishment from In Via meetings, we urge members who identify as Christian to commit themselves to a church/fellowship first, before prioritizing In Via. We exist primarily to marry faith with intellect and creativity, through the publication of the semesterly journals. Churches and fellowships are dedicated to nurturing the faith of individuals, in ways that In Via was not designed to do.

VERITAS FORUM AND AUGUSTINE COLLECTIVE
The distinction between the Veritas Forum and Augustine Collective (AC) — and their relationships to In Via — can be confusing. To clarify, the Veritas Forum is the overarching nonprofit organization whose mission is to invite “university communities to dialogue with respect and curiosity about the ideas that shape our lives.” Founded in 2010, the Augustine Collective is a network of student journals on university campuses across the US and the UK. The AC became a program of Veritas in 2017. In addition to running the AC, Veritas provides support for students to plan forums, dialogue events on topics of society, faith, and the university. In Via is the Christian thought journal on Emory’s campus; there are over 25 unique journals in the network.
